Ont Fells

Back in early June, 14AC made a team attempt on the might (height?) of Skiddaw, England's 4th highest mountain, in the prestigous Skiddaw Fell Race. Standing at 931m high, this was not a race for the faint hearted.

As part of their Ironman prep (http://i-not-m.blogspot.com/) , Leon, Andy and Martin were training in Grasmere, so it seemed rude not to have a crack.

Incredibly Greenleaf won in style, building up a 2 minute lead by the summit, and adding his name to a illustrious list of winners including fell legends such as Kenny Stuart. As a result he was also invited to run in the UK trials on the fells!

Whilst Greenleaf disappeared into the clouds, further down the mountain, Gaunt steadily built a lead over Foster and extended it coming down, finishing a very creditable 8th, whilst Baptiste came 21st. Thus 14AC placed 2nd behind the mighty Borrowdale club, not bad at all.

Later in the week, the Carnforth 20 Barriers race over 5.4 miles produced similar success, Greenleaf just being outkicked for the win, coming a very close 2nd, whist Martin and Leon had an even closer battle, this time Leon coming 8th and Martin 9th. Alas, this was only good enough for 2nd with Lancaster and Morecambe having 1/4/5.

Andy was also 2nd in the Winchester 10k, whilst Martin recently claimed 1st place in the Luton 10k.
